“Jessica is the kind of leader every room needs.
She has a rare ability to make people feel genuinely seen, heard, and valued- and in doing so, she brings out the very best in everyone around her. Jessica creates spaces that are not only safe, but energizing and transformative. She doesn’t just facilitate growth- she inspires it.”
-Matt Henley, EducatorHi,
I’m Jessica
I've been thinking about leadership since before I had a word for it.
My first real lessons came from marching band. I learned what it means to be part of something bigger than yourself, to trust the people beside you, to find your role inside a collective and play it with everything you have. That's still the heartbeat of everything I do.
For over a decade I've worked inside education, nonprofit, and social sector organizations, designing the kinds of experiences that make people feel seen, like their work matters, and like they have what it takes to lead. From leadership symposiums to People & Culture programs, I've spent my career at the place where human development and organizational life meet.
My work is about building the right conditions for transformation to happen. I don't show up as the content. I show up as the container: the structure, the safety, and the space that makes real work possible.
Too many brilliant people are leading from a version of themselves that capitalism and white supremacy built. A version that was rewarded for performing rather than being, for pushing through rather than knowing when to stop, for adapting to systems rather than questioning them. I built Root & Rise for the ones who are ready to lead from something truer- something that actually belongs to them.
This isn't about adding another program to your calendar. It's about reimagining the way you think about leadership. Starting with yourself.
Relationships are my way. Vulnerability is my strategy.
